Flight For Life Saves Snowmobiler
A 44-year-old man had his snowmobile roll over him Saturday afternoon in the Quaker Mountain area of California Park (located in Colorado.) His suffered a lower leg injury but luckily he wasn’t out there alone. One of his riding companions was able to get to cell phone range and called in the incident around 4:45 p.m. A five-person search and rescue team was dispatched and, upon arrival to the accident site, decided it was best to medevac the man. They were 16-miles from the staging area which would have been a painfully long trip by snowmobile.
Frisco based Flight for Life, an Air Methods operation, was dispatched to the area. It was likely N392LG that was sent, a 1999 Eurocopter AS350 B3 and the same helicopter I wrote about here that saved a 17-year-old avalanche victim.
The injured man was flown to the Yampa Valley Medical Center where his condition is unknown.
