Where were you born? An Arizona boy gets the pleasure of answering “I was in a helicopter flying over Arizona.” Just after 6am this morning, a DPS Air Rescue helicopter was called in to take a woman in labor to a hospital 130 miles from her location. She was in a clinic at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. When the 407 took off with the woman it became evident while in route that she wasn’t going to be able to wait until they got to the hospital. The flight crew decided to deliver the baby right then and there. At 8:25am the baby boy was delivered without any issues. The helicopter landed five minutes later at KRMC. Although this isn’t the first time something like this has happened, it isn’t exactly a regular occurrence. Hopefully his mother comes up with a clever name. I’d call him JetRanger. Yes I know it is a 407 though.

Update: The new baby boy, named Tyson, actually isn’t the first in his family born in a helicopter. His cousin was also born in one on Christmas day, 11 years ago.
